Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes

Last Completed on July 13, 2020

All Council on Social Work Education programs measure and report student outcomes. The report documents the percentage of students meeting the program’s benchmark. The core competencies set forth by the Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) represent the dimensions of social work practice that all social workers should master during their professional training.

The measurement benchmark set by UTC’s BSW program is 80% of students will score four on a Five point Likert scale. Assessment scores of four or higher represents adequate mastery of that particular competency. Assessment scores represent the aggregate mean of student outcomes for each behavior and competency. The educational assessment tools used to evaluate student outcomes include a final field evaluation and an embedded assignment for each competency. These totals from each were averaged together for the final tally. The findings below are based on data from students that graduated in 2020.
