This Non-Standard Enrollment Status Policy applies only to student-veterans receiving VA Educational Benefits.
It is not representative of the official enrollment status reported to the National Student Clearinghouse.
This policy is only for purposes of reporting to the Veterans Affairs Administration for benefit purposes.
Graduate Students
Graduate student veterans receiving VA Educational Benefits enrolled in a (non-standard) part-of-term will have training time reported according to the length of the session.
The conversion chart for graduate student veterans is listed below. Graduate student veterans must be enrolled in graduate-level courses.
Graduate Student-Veteran Conversion Chart for Non-Standard Parts-of-Term
Summer Full Term (12 Weeks)
Full-time 8 – 9 graduate credit hours
Three-quarter time 6 – 7 graduate credit hours
Half-time 3 – 5 graduate credit hours
Quarter-time 1 – 2 graduate credit hours
Summer Part-of-Term (Six Weeks)
Full-time 4 – 9 graduate credit hours
Three-quarter time 3 graduate credit hours
Half-time 2 graduate credit hours
Quarter-time 1 graduate credit hours
Spring and Fall Parts-of-Term (7 Weeks)
Full-time 5 – 9 graduate credit hours
Three-quarter time 4 graduate credit hours
Half-time 3 graduate credit hours
Less than half-time 2 graduate credit hours
Quarter-time 1 graduate credit hours
Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate student veterans receiving VA Educational Benefits enrolled in a (non-standard) part-of-term in a spring or fall semester will have their training time determined by the Veterans Affairs Administration.
Undergraduate student veterans receiving VA Educational Benefits enrolled in summer will have their training time determined by the Veterans Affairs Administration.
