This page contains information on training completed by members of the UTC Title IX Team, including but not limited to, the Title IX Coordinator, Deputy Title IX Coordinators, Title IX Investigators, and Title IX Decision-Makers. This information is provided in compliance with the Title IX Amendments of 1972, specifically 34 C.F.R. 106.45(b)(10)(i)(D).

Team Training
The University of Tennessee System-wide training was facilitated by Melissa Carleton, JD, Partner at Bricker & Graydon, on August 5, 2025. This material is provided to meet the annual federal Title IX training requirements and is for educational purposes only. It does not establish or reflect the official policy, position, or legal interpretation of the University of Tennessee. The training addressed the following:
- The definitions of Prohibited Conduct included in the University’s Policy
- The scope of the University’s education program or activity
- How to conduct the grievance process outlined in the Policy and Appendices (including investigations, hearings, appeals, and informal resolution processes)
- How to serve impartially (including avoiding conflicts of interest, personal biases, and prejudgment of the facts of a matter)
- How to evaluate relevance for evidence, relevance questions in the hearing, and drafting investigative reports that fairly summarize the evidence.
Individual Member Training
- D. Stafford & Associates Title IX Coordinator (Tiers 1, 2, and 3) Course: Anitra Barrett, Director of Title IX Compliance and Title IX Coordinator, completed the course on July 15-17, 2025.
