Motivational Interviewing (BASICS)
The Center for Wellbeing offers confidential, one-on-one conversations for students who would like to reflect on their alcohol or other substance use and explore ways to reduce harm. Using a motivational interviewing approach informed by the BASICS (Brief Alcohol Screening and Intervention for College Students) model, our staff provide a nonjudgmental space for students to discuss their experiences, examine how substance use aligns with their personal goals and values, and identify any changes they may wish to make. Whether a student is simply curious about their use patterns or interested in making a change, these appointments are available free of charge and are designed to support informed decision-making and overall wellbeing.
