Bystander Intervention

Our bystander intervention program enables the UTC community to step up and help peers in situations ranging from academics to discrimination to mental health.

Step UP! is a prosocial behavior and bystander intervention program that educates students to be proactive in helping others. It received a NASPA Gold award and recently was identified as a ‘Best Practice’ by the NCAA Sports Science Institute of national and international scholars.

Every year, UTC is required to share information about university, state and federal policies regarding alcohol, other drugs and weapons.

Additional information in these documents includes health risks of commonly abused substances and resources for prevention, education, counseling and treatment.

Mental Health and Suicide Awareness

We provide a comprehensive approach to promote connectedness, train our community to recognize warning signs, help you know how to ask the question, promote access to mental health services and provide support when a death by suicide occurs. Learn more about how you can help prevent suicide by attending one of our trainings for students, faculty and staff.
