Confidentiality Statement
The Walker Center for Teaching & Learning is a university-wide resource for the UTC teaching and learning community. Our goals are to promote excellence in teaching, learning, and the use of technology through dialogue, inquiry, and research. The Center also offers instructor feedback and opportunities for reflection on their teaching. To fulfill these goals, the Center of Teaching and Learning offers a trustworthy environment to those it serves, and thus establishes the following policies. Please address any questions or concerns to the Walker Center for Teaching and Learning Director.
Faculty receive feedback on their teaching through the Walker Center for Teaching & Learning in a variety of ways: Small group instructional diagnosis (SGID), class observations, seminars, and individual consultations about particular teaching challenges.
Therefore:
- The Walker Center for Teaching and Learning will review feedback (video, student evaluations, etc.) about a course upon request of the faculty member.
- The Walker Center for Teaching and Learning does not make any feedback or observation results available to anyone but the faculty member who requests such feedback.
- The Walker Center for Teaching and Learning recognizes that faculty may benefit further by sharing the Center feedback with their colleagues and they may do so at their own discretion.
- Feedback gathered or given by the Walker Center for Teaching and Learning is meant to be formative only and thus should not be used in the promotion, tenure, or re-appointment process.
- The Walker Center for Teaching and Learning will make available the name of a faculty participant only upon his or her written request. At the request of a participant, the Center for Teaching and Learning will provide written verification of participation listing the type(s) of activity and date(s).
- Occasionally, the Walker Center for Teaching and Learning may ask for a faculty member’s written permission to show another individual or group an excerpt or other instructional material to illustrate a particular teaching issue.
- The Walker Center for Teaching and Learning reports its data in aggregate form only. These data may include the total number of faculty attending seminars or participating in consultations.
