Psychological Science Joint Undergraduate and Master’s Program (JUMP)
Program Description
The purpose of the Psychological Science Joint Undergraduate and Master’s Program (JUMP) is to afford students the opportunity to earn course credit that will count towards the UTC Psychology BS and Psychological Science MS degrees. Enrolled students will be able to apply up to nine hours of graduate courses to both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Enrolling in the Psychological Science JUMP will foster professional development that can help students to be more competitive for the Psychological Science MS program and complete the degree in less time. Notably, students who complete courses through the Psychological Science JUMP are still required to submit an application for consideration to the UTC Psychological Science MS program before being admitted.
Program Eligibility
Admission to the Psychological Science JUMP is limited due to use of a mentorship model that offers our students the opportunity to work within vibrant research programs led by leading Psychological Scientists. Eligible students may submit their application for review during their junior year. Priority consideration will be given to students who are already conducting research with Psychology faculty. Students should consult with their academic advisor to confirm eligibility for the Psychological Science JUMP , and admission to the program is contingent upon approval from the Psychological Science graduate program director and the dean of the Graduate School. Before applying, students should consider the following eligibility criteria:
- UTC Psychology undergraduates who are classified as seniors and are within 30 hours of completion of their Psychology bachelor’s degree
- Have an overall GPA of at least 3.60
- Completed PSY 2010, PSY 2020, PSY 2040, and PSY 2020L with a grade of B or better.
