Department of Communication Scholarships

Each year the Department of Communication offers the following scholarships dedicated to COMM majors:

• Adolph S. Ochs Journalism Scholarship / Ralph & Donna Damon Dawn Scholarship - Both scholarships are awarded to a student majoring in communication who has demonstrated successful academic performance and/or financial need. Students need to only apply once - all applicants will be considered for both scholarships.
• Osovsky Family Scholarship - Awarded to a student pursuing a major in communication, with an interest in journalism, with a demonstrated financial need, and an overall and major GPA of 3.0 or greater. A student holding the scholarship in one year has preference in subsequent years.
• Van Henderson Journalism and Mass Communication Scholarship - Awarded to a student majoring in communication who has demonstrated successful academic performance and/or financial need. Preference given to students who are who are working towards a career in newspaper or magazine journalism and will be in their junior or senior year. A student holding the scholarship in one year has preference in subsequent years.
• WRCB-TV / Sarkes Tarzian Scholarship - Awarded to a student who will be a junior or senior majoring in communication who plans to pursue a career in television broadcasting. Preference given to students who are minorities, disadvantaged students and women.
