How to Apply

1. Visit utc.edu/apply.
2. Choose "International."
3. Choose "International Undergraduate."
4. Choose the student type that represents you (International First Time Freshman, International Transfer, International Readmit or International Transient).
5. Choose the appropriate semester.
6. Complete the online application.

You will be asked to create an account to apply.

You must also pay a nonrefundable fee of $30.

NOTICE: If you are accepted to UTC and request a transfer to another school prior to the final day of registration at UTC, you will be charged a processing fee for the transfer of your I-20 to the new school.

Application Requirements

New International Students

• Language Proficiency: TOEFL 61/IELTS 5.5/Duolingo English Test 85 (160-point scale)
  • Scores must be no more than two years old.
  • Applicants who come from an approved English-speaking country or have received a degree from a U.S. institution within the past two years may request to be exempt from the language proficiency requirement by completing this waiver form.
• Financial Documents: Documentation of financial resources sufficient for nine months of study must be received prior to issuance of an I-20. Complete this form and submit required documentation. More information about the cost of attendance and proof of funding may be found here.
• Copy of valid passport
• Academic Credentials

1. Original or attested copy of high school diploma
2. Complete and official transcript (statement of marks) for each high school and/or college attended

IMPORTANT:

1. Documents must be attested and sealed by the proper official within the issuing institution. UTC will not accept documents attested by instructors or external notary publics.
2. Documents should be submitted directly by the issuing institution.
3. All documents become the property of the University. We cannot return or forward documents.

• ACT or SAT: All international undergraduate applicants are strongly encouraged to submit SAT scores. Students who do not submit test scores with the application may be required to take the on-campus ACT Residual exam before or during the first semester of attendance.

• SEVIS I-20 Verification Form: This form must verify your legal immigration standing before UTC may accept you.

Express Mail

UTC uses an express mail service which may allow you to receive your acceptance packet and I-20 through DHL or FedEx within three to five days. 

Requesting immigration documents through express mail is at the STUDENT'S expense. Students may pay with a Visa, Mastercard or Discover credit card. To request express mailing of your documents, visit this website (works best with an Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox browser).  

Use the website provided above — do not log in through the DHL or FedEx websites. If you choose the express mail option, you will communicate directly with the eShipGlobal service, which will notify UTC of your request.

You will need to create a username and password to use the account. To request shipment, you will need your mailing address, email address, phone number and credit card information.

After all of your materials are submitted and in order, we ask that you allow 48 business hours for our staff to process the documentation.

Mailing can take up to five days. The student is responsible for express mail shipping (see the "Express Mail" section above for more details).

TOEFL IBP minimum score: 79/IELTS minimum score: 6.0/Duolingo English Test Minimum score: 100 (160-point scale). MS Computer Science requires TOEFL IBT 83/ IELTS 6.5/Duolingo 107
  • Scores must be no more than two years old.
  • Applicants who come from an approved English-speaking country, or have received a degree from a U.S. institution within the past two years, or have worked full time in the U.S. or an approved English country for at least two of the preceding four years, may request to be exempt from the language proficiency requirement by completing this exemption form
• Financial Documents: Documentation of financial resources sufficient for nine months of study must be received prior to issuance of an I-20. Complete this form and submit required documentation. More information about the cost of attendance and proof of funding may be found here.
• Copy of valid passport
• Academic Credentials: UTC requires submission of all transcripts and degree certificates earned outside of the U.S. See detailed requirements here.
