About
The TOH@UTC initiative is an evidence-based effort to protect and promote health, safety, and well-being for all employees and UTC as a functioning organization striving for operational excellence. An essential element to the effectiveness of this initiative is the ability to gather, analyze, interpret, and respond to meaningful data about TOH-related matters that may be affecting specific individuals, units, and/or the overall university. Because of the size and complexity of this organization, much of these data come through recurring surveys such as the system-level McLean survey of staff employee engagement, the COACHE survey of faculty satisfaction, and our UTC-specific TOH progress check surveys. Findings and interpretations of the McLean and COACHE surveys are shared with campus and unit leaders (where possible) via other channels and mechanisms, given that those surveys are managed by external vendors and the overall UT system. The internal TOH progress check generates very specific local UTC data that we are also able to break out by work units for internal reporting when at least three employees in a given unit respond. Specific unit reports are shared with unit and division leadership following each round of these surveys. Below is an interactive data dashboard that presents campus-level data for informational purposes.
This data dashboard summarizes data from the recurring TOH progress check evaluation that is conducted every November and April here at UTC. This recurring survey provides important information used to guide ongoing TOH@UTC work and this report is intended to help you monitor employee feelings, attitudes, and experiences related to TOH over time. The present report compares Fall 2023 (F23) and Spring 2024 (S24) data from this survey, which is administered to all UTC employees (staff, faculty, and administrators). As a reminder, the TOH@UTC initiative is focused on enhancing 10 evidence-based factors that are essential for optimal employee and organizational functioning: Psychological and Physical Safety, Security, Social Support, Belonging, Autonomy, Flexibility, Dignity, Meaning, Learning, and Accomplishment.
Here are some brief informational notes to keep in mind as you review the data summarized in the rest of this report:
1) The "TOH@UTC Progress Check Main Indicators" page summarizes employee responses in this unit to indicators of the 10 TOH@UTC factors noted above. Where available, information from the past two rounds of this TOH evaluation are presented.
2) Separate pages in this dashboard breakdown the data summarized on the Main Indicators page to allow finer grained review and interpretation of employee response patterns with respect to the core TOH@UTC dimensions.
3) Additional insights are shared in the form of outcomes and an overall demographic profile of respondents from recent administrations of this TOH progress check.
Many employees also responded to open-ended prompts in these TOH progress check evaluations. Because of the personal nature of many of these responses, this information is deidentified, analyzed, and reported back to campus leaders separately and in aggregated form to protect the confidentiality of survey respondents.
As you review these data, please remember that employee responses to these survey items should be interpreted as indications of honest and real experiences working with others at UTC. If you have any questions about what you see here or would like to discuss any aspect of the TOH@UTC initiative further, please reach out to the TOH@UTC initiative facilitator, Dr. Chris Cunningham at [email protected] or at 423-425-4264.
