Connection and Community
UTC media
Achieving Total Organizational Health (TOH) requires building and sustaining strong and healthy social support networks and interpersonal connections within UTC and its many employment units (colleges, divisions, areas, departments, etc.). These types of social connections create a sense of community that helps to ensure all employees feel like they belong within their specific working groups and that they can turn to their coworkers, supervisors, and campus leaders for help and support when needed. As epitomized by a common UTC slogan: "Mocs flock together" - This applies to employees as well as students and alumni.
Here are a few of many TOH-related resources here at UTC that address connection and community:
- Community wellness resources and information summarized by UTC Human Resources. Staying well involves different strategies and actions for different people. As noted in these resources, "For some this may involve philanthropic, spiritual, or environmental sustainability practices that all take conscious effort and knowledge."
- Recurring campus updates that celebrate activities, events, and impacts linked to members of the UTC community. These take a variety of forms, including UTC News stories and the Chancellor's C-Notes and other campus messages that are distributed through campus email listservs.
- Multiple self-paced training courses are available through the university's K@TE training and development system, focusing on fostering effective communication and strong interpersonal relationships at work. Making an effort to communicate clearly, support others, and nurture connections in the workplace contributes to enhanced health and well-being for all. Check out the following courses in particular, within the K@TE system:
