Summer Undergraduate Research and Professional Development Learning Institute
About the Program:
You should participate in this FREE and FUN learning opportunity if you:
- want to learn about how to participate in undergraduate research (UR) to be competitive for graduate school or medical school.
- are curious about the research process.
- would like to sharpen your skills for a future career.
- Want to make new friends, learn more about research, and explore exciting academic opportunities!
Students who participate in this 6-week learning institute network with and learn from current undergraduate researchers, and attend seminars and discussions about applying to graduate school and locating research opportunities. This experience also includes other exciting events.
Why You Should Participate:
The institute offers a safe and supportive environment to learn about undergraduate research, and prepare for future goals such as graduate study and careers. This is also a great opportunity to practice new skills, network with current undergraduate students, graduate students, and UTC faculty, and meet other professionals involved with research.
Most important, students who participate will gain critical skills and knowledge to be competitive in graduate programs, medical school, and future careers. Students who successfully complete the program will receive a gift card, and a chance to win a Chromebook! Participants will also receive a program completion certificate.
The summer 2025 program will run between June-July, 2025.
Who Should Apply:
Students from all majors, all years of study, and those pursing a wide variety of career paths are encouraged to apply. This experience is particularly intended for students without prior research experience, rising sophomores, first-generation college students and students from underrepresented and underserved populations. Finally, students with a strong desire to pursue research centered careers at the doctoral level are strongly encouraged to apply.
