Biography
As the director of the WCC, Beth oversees the daily operations of the center’s peer-tutoring services, offers writing pedagogy support for faculty, and mentors undergraduate and graduate students in their development as writing center tutors and writing center researchers. She conducts programmatic research and assessment and collaborates with faculty to develop and sustain a strong culture of writing at UTC. She loves working one on one with students, especially on job or scholarship materials.
Beth has a PhD in Rhetoric, Composition, and the Teaching of English from the University of Arizona and an MA in English (with a focus on rhetoric and writing) from the University of New Mexico. Her research interests include feminist writing center administration, writing center assessment, and border rhetorics. Her work is featured in Rhetoric Review, Praxis: A Writing Center Journal, The Peer Review, WPA: Writing Program Administration and edited collections including the International Writing Centers Association’s Outstanding Book Award Nominee, Emotions and Affect in Writing Centers (Parlor Press, 2022).
