IT Student Employee Application
Are you interested in gaining hands-on experience with technology? The UTC Information Technology department is looking for on-campus student employees this semester. As part of the UTC IT team, you will have the opportunity to gain skills in a variety of customer service and technology areas.
Prior technical experience is not required, and the positions are open to any major.
IT Student Employee Requirements
- Must be enrolled as a student at UTC during the duration of the employment and remain in good standing with your program and the university.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 required.
- Minimum of 10 hours per week (available).
- An agreement of confidentiality.
- Location: On campus only.
All students may start in the Service Desk and then based on needs of the department and performance, receive opportunities to work in the other areas. Below are just a few examples:
Service Desk
Common Tasks:
- Answering phones and working with customers
- Problem solving general IT issues
- Input and properly assign or resolve issues into the TDX ticket tracking system.
Infrastructure
Common Tasks:
- Assist faculty, staff and students with the repair of computers and related peripherals.
- Assist with installation of networking, classroom, or other IT infrastructure equipment.
- Problem solving specific IT issues
- Assist with equipment inventory.
- Assist with other projects as assigned
Enterprise Systems
Common Tasks:
- Assist with user support, data analysis, documentation, training, testing, and problem solving.
- Research new technology solutions.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of new technology solutions.
- Participate in the development of custom programming projects.
Web Development
Common Tasks:
- Assist with user support, training, testing, and development for UTC's web systems.
- Provide content strategy, creation and edits for the campus.
- Participate in the planning and implementation of new web technology solutions.
- Participate in the development of custom web programming projects.
