Clinical Education Calendar AY 2025-2026 (all 2026 placements)
- January 5-April 17, 2026 – Clinical Education IV
- May 4-June 19, 2026 – Clinical Education II
- June 22-August 7, 2026 – Clinical Education I & III
2027 Slots for Full-time Clinical Education Placements
- CE I – PHYT 7133 – June 28-August 13, 2027 – 7 weeks in the outpatient setting with an orthopedic focus
- CE II – PHYT 7231 – May 10-June 25, 2027 – 7 weeks in hospital-based acute care, acute/subacute inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing facility, outpatient pediatrics with a neurodevelopmental focus, or home health
- CE III – PHYT 7232 – June 28-August 13, 2027 – 7 weeks in hospital-based acute care, acute/subacute inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing facility, outpatient pediatrics with a neurodevelopmental focus, or home health
- CE IV – PHYT 7332 – January 11-April 16, 2027 – 14 weeks in any setting (specialty practice areas considered if determined to fulfill course requirements)
- All physical therapy programs are encouraged to send annual clinical calendar requests to sites beginning March 1 of each year. UTC DPT accepts slots from sites until all students are assigned for the following year. Sites may be contacted at a later date with requests to add slots, as needed. Sites and students can expect to be made aware of assignments for the following calendar year each fall, with Clinical Education IV assignments being made before Labor Day, annually.

- All students will be assessed using the APTA's Clinical Performance Instrument. For more information, please refer to the APTA instructions for appropriate use of the tool.
Physical Therapist Student Evaluation: Clinical Experience and Clinical Instruction Form
- Students provide reflections of their experiences in clinical education related to both clinical instruction and the site. The DCE provides copies of the surveys in advance of the students arriving on site. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the DCE with any questions.
Student Supervision Rules
- Continuous, on-site supervision of student physical therapy practice must be provided by a physical therapist licensed in the applicable state who has a minimum of one year, post-licensure clinical experience. Please refer to applicable state practice acts, rules and regulations, insurance agreements, APTA and CAPTE websites for additional requirements and/or clarifications, as needed.
