Literacy, the Arts, and the Common Core Leaders

The instructional team at the Southeast Center has partnered with colleagues from the College of Education and Hamilton County Schools to design an innovative professional development project for area teachers. Literacy, the Arts, and the Common Core will explore the instructional intersections between text-based literacy learning, and the elements of literacy so important to arts-based learning. Visual literacy so relevant in our media-saturated world, the social literacy we build through engagement in drama, our auditory literacy that is expanding through new music and technology, and the kinesthetic literacy we gain through dance are all great reasons to engage in this exciting project!
