Student Support Services Academic Coaching
What is SSS Academic Coaching?
Academic coaching is more than just tutoring.
SSS academic coaches are trained to support students academically with course material, as well as work with students to address ways to increase positive habits for success that can be transferred into other coursework.
Academic coaches are undergraduate and graduate students who have experienced success in these courses, so they know what suggestions to provide!
Active SSS students are eligible for additional academic support in a variety of courses. SSS academic coaching is free to participants and is primarily conducted on a one-on-one basis.
Small group coaching and study hall may be arranged if there is a need. We offer academic coaching in a variety of subjects, mainly in the areas of math, science and business. In addition, students can receive help with their writing through brainstorming, planning, and editing support.
Move from “pretty good” to “great” in a class.

How Do I Sign Up for Academic Coaching?
Fill out a Request form to request an academic coach. You can request up to 2 hours of help a week per subject. When making a request, be sure that the course and section numbers are correct. Listing only a few available hours for academic coaching will greatly decrease your chances of being assigned a coach. Check your UTC email. Within 48 hours, you will receive notification that you have been assigned a coach with the time of your session or if no one is available. The deadline to apply for academic coaching is the Friday after midterm.
