Student Support Services
What We Do
We retain and graduate students from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds at the highest possible rate, and we foster an academically focused climate supportive of the success of students.
Why should you participate?
Students who participate in SSS are more than twice as likely to remain at UTC and graduate than students from similar backgrounds who did not participate in the program.
Who We Are
Our purpose evolved out of the belief that students, when provided with the tools, resources, and information necessary for success, will have a greater chance of graduating.
We aim to embody a holistic program that facilitates and customizes services that address the academic and non-academic needs of participants at each level of their college experience.

Serving UTC Since 1978
SSS is a federal TRIO program funded through a U.S. Department of Education competitive grant process. The current five-year grant totals almostthan $1.7 million.
The name TRIO stands for the original three programs that were part of President Lyndon B. Johnson's War on Poverty. The programs were established by the federal government to ensure equal educational opportunity for all Americans, regardless of race, ethnicity, or economic situation.

At the beginning of each fall semester you must request services by completing the Intent to Continue Participation form. This form lets us know you still want to be a part of SSS, and it informs the staff of any needs you may have.
