National Governing Bodies
Many sports are represented by a National Governing Body (NGB). These organizations regulate various aspects of a sport including bylaws of the sport, gameplay, organizational, personal and family memberships, which may include perks like athlete insurance, leads to regional governing bodies, game schedules, competitions, coaching guidelines, certifications, scores, stats and championship recognitions. A Club Sports’ organizational membership to a National or Regional Governing Body is a fundamental underpinning for all competitive club sports and membership is highly encouraged for all club sports in promotion of a fuller and safer experience with supported guidance. Familiarity with respective NGBs can also keep athletes connected to their sport for a lifetime after college, whether through a community organization or national team. A significant portion of all club sports SPSF allocations are dedicated to organizational memberships to a Club Sports’ respective NGB. Not every NGB is the same nor offers the same perks, so please visit their websites below for more information.
