Current Students
Are you a current UTC Art student? Whether you have questions about advising or want to learn more about building your art community outside of class, we are here to help.
Academic Support
Course Overrides
Interested in taking a course but having trouble registering? There are some courses that need prior approval, depending on your major or year. We want to support your academic goals, and the override process is the way we can help you. Visit the Student Affairs' Course Override page and click on “Art” to initiate an override.
Advising
Your faculty are there to support your professional goals while in school and beyond. If you have questions about the field or career, reach out to your professors directly. If you have academic advising questions (such as needing help with registration or understanding the requirements for your major), reach out to your academic advisor.
If you are a freshman, the Center for Advisement and Student Success will support you. If you are a sophomore or above, the Hub is your one-stop shop for all advising questions; click on “How to Schedule an Appointment” to learn the process for meeting with your advisor.
Scholarships
The Department of Art has many scholarships for continuing students. Each spring, sophomores and juniors can apply for thousands of dollars in scholarships, which will be announced via our department Canvas page. There are also institutional and college-wide scholarships, which you can learn more about on the UTC Student Affairs page.
Get Involved in Department Clubs
The Art Collective
The Art Collective (TAC) is a student-led organization that promotes artists and art activities on campus. Students from all disciplines across UTC are welcome to join TAC for workshops such as collage nights or learning how to make cyanotypes. Whether hosting a studio day, movie night, or a Makers Market, there is something for everyone looking for an informal creative outlet. Visit MocSync or their Instagram page to learn more.
Apothecary
Apothecary is a contemporary arts project space supported by the Department of Art and operated entirely by UTC Art students. Having access to an experimental gallery space allows students to learn professional skills including the design, installation, and promotion of art exhibitions—invaluable experience for those who plan to enter the fields of curatorial practice or museum studies. Reach out to the Department Head if you are interested in organizing an exhibition.
