Rock, Mineral, and Fossil Identification
The Geology Faculty offer free rock, mineral, and fossil identification once a month during the academic school year (August - April). Please see our social media pages on Facebook (UTC Geology) and Instagram (@geologyUTC) for the announcements of those dates and times.
We often receive requests to identify or confirm meteorites. Here is a helpful page from the United States Geological Survey (USGS) on the steps to identification: https://www.usgs.gov/faqs/i-think-i-found-a-meteorite-how-can-i-tell-sure.

At UTC, we do not have the capabilities to confirm a specimen as a meteorite. We hope this information linked above can help you you to determine what you might have.
