Think of our office as your welcoming committee. We are excited to offer first time students a New Student Orientation experience that includes both online and in-person experiences. This hybrid program is designed to protect student health and the broader health of the UT Chattanooga community, all while introducing you and your family to everything you need to be successful at UTC!

Get started by choosing an Orientation session based on your semester of enrollment and learn more about the session that's designed just for you. All new Mocs entering in the fall and spring are required to attend Orientation.

Fall 2021 Orientation


Freshman

This required session is designed especially for freshmen students to finalize their fall schedule, receive vital information about campus resources and to speak virtually with current students and staff in order to have their questions addressed. Get started by registering for your preferred session and remember, sessions fill up quickly so register early.

We have planned a 4-step Orientation process for all first-time freshman:

  1. Mailed information
    • A Mocs Box containing important information about student resources, next steps and blue & gold goodies will be coming your way!
  2. Online Orientation Modules
    • Registered freshmen will have access to Online Orientation Modules the first week in May.
  3. Virtual Advisement
    • Students will receive an email from their advisors 1 week before your registered 2-day Orientation session. The email will have information about your advisement appointment including the time and link for the online meeting.
  4. On-campus Programming
    • We are actively planning optional on-campus Orientation programming that will be available after students have completed their online Orientation Modules and virtual Advisement session.We will send out more information in April.

Cost

The fee for Fall Orientation is $75 per student. Once fee payment is received, attendance will be confirmed by email.

Refund requests for orientation must be made by June 1, 2021. There is a $10 processing fee on all refunds. 

Orientation fees cover mailings, materials, staffing, paperwork, packaging, etc.

Register for Fall Freshman Orientation


 Transfer

This required virtual session is designed especially for transfer students who have already gotten a feel for college life. Get started by registering for your preferred session and remember, sessions fill up quickly so register early.

  1. Students registered for New Student Orientation will receive their Mocs Box by mail 1-2 weeks before your Orientation session date. Your Mocs Box will include your pre-registered course schedule, information about student resources and next steps, as well as Mocs gear and goodies to get you ready for this fall.
  2. All registered students will receive access to the Online Orientation modules in April. Students may complete these modules at their own pace, but must be com[pleted before your virtual advising appointment will be scheduled.
  3. On your Orientation date, you will meet virtually with your advisor to discuss your course schedule and have the option to make course changes.

Spring Orientation


Meet with an academic advisor, register for classes, learn how to navigate campus like a pro and more in this one-day session. Learn more about campus, get directions and find lodging.

Cost

The fee for Spring Orientation is $50 per student and $25 per optional parent/guest. Once fee payment is received, attendance will be confirmed by email.

Orientation fees cover food and refreshments, staffing, facility/equipment rentals, paperwork, packaging, etc.

Starting in the Summer?


There isn't an Orientation session requirement for students starting in the summer. However, we realize you may still have questions about UTC. Don't hesitate to call or email our office. In the meantime, here are a few resources you might find helpful.
