What is Master of Public Health?
UTC Master of Public Health (MPH) is a professional graduate degree program that focuses on preparing individuals for careers in public health. It is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to address public health challenges and improve the health of communities and populations. Our MPH program offers students the opportunity to choose Chronic Disease Prevention and Control (MPH: CD), and Nutrition and Dietetics (MPH: ND).
Both MPH concentrations are accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) and the MPH MD is also accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) Master of Public Health (MPH) program, with concentrations in Chronic Disease Prevention and Control or Nutrition and Dietetics, is an interdisciplinary program offered through the College of Health, Education and Professional Studies. This unique program is dedicated to educating and training future public health professionals to be leaders and innovators.
Located in the heart of metropolitan Chattanooga, we are escalating efforts to address the growth of chronic diseases in pursuit of creating a healthier, more vibrant community. We are redefining ways to approach public health issues by working across systems to prevent and mitigate the impact of chronic diseases on our society. Whether in the classroom or in the community, we train professionals to promote healthy lifestyles to individuals in diverse communities locally, nationally and globally.

Teaching
Educate the next generation of public health professionals to enhance individual's health and wellness in diverse communities by implementing the UTC MPH curriculum in real-world settings.

Faculty and students will support community engagement through professional and community service (P-CS) activities to address public health issues.

Engage in community and/or collaborative public health-based research.

- We have full time and part time options (MPH: CD), and most of our courses are hybrid and online format.
- Opportunties

- Our program requires students to complete fieldwork in public health organizations to gain hands-on experience. This practical training is essential for applying the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom to real-world public health challenges. Students may be required to conduct research or complete projects that address public health issues.
- Careers

- Public health professionals with an MPH degree play a crucial role in promoting health, preventing disease, and addressing health disparities in communities. They work to develop and implement strategies to improve population health and often find employment in various sectors to make a positive impact on public health outcomes. Graduates of our MPH program can pursue a wide range of careers in public health, including working in government health departments, non-profit organizations, healthcare institutions, health agencies, research institutions, and international health organizations. They may work as public health analysts, epidemiologists, biostatistics, health educators, health policy providers, and more.
