Arts and Education Forum Application
The initial summer workshop will be held on the UTC campus June 9 – 13, 2014, and three half-day workshops will occur in August, October, and November.
- Learn new arts and literacy instructional strategies and content-specific vocabulary
- Analyze and align standards in the arts and literacy
- Collaborate with a partner to design and deliver an interdisciplinary unit of study
- Dialog with colleagues and content experts to broaden your teaching repertoire
- Explore and implement the new Tennessee State Fine Arts Portfolio Assessment
Summer Workshop Highlights
- Daily teaching demonstrations with high school students and guided reflection will provide opportunity to observe and analyze student work in the arts and literacy
- Arts-specific workshops offered daily will refresh and revitalize your own art-making
- Literacy experts will share strategies and processes through Common Core standards that align literature and informational texts with artistic processes and standards
- Collaborative partnerships will enable teachers to share content expertise and build a support network that facilitates ongoing growth
School-year Highlights (Fall 2014)
- Content experts support teachers in their own classrooms through onsite coaching
- Stay connected with workshop colleagues through online discussion
- Teaching partners deliver interdisciplinary instruction and assess their students’ growth through lessons conceived and designed in June
- Three half-day (Saturday) workshops introduce and guide teachers to the effective implementation of the Tennessee State Fine Arts Portfolio Assessment process
