How can we adapt to Innovations in Technology, Art making, and Teaching Practice?
Educators today are challenged to rethink their practice and refine their teaching skills to deepen student understanding in a world that is constantly changing. Teachers, students, and artists are confronted daily with the need to adapt, rework, or retool in order to stay current and relevant. Arts-Based Collaborative sixth annual Arts & Education Forum at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga challenged educators, artists, and technologists to critically and creatively explore current and future practice in education, art making, and professional development. There were 51 participants representing 39 organizations from 11 states – Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Washington DC – and Australia.
Teaching and Learning
How is the technology we use as learners, artists, and teachers changing? What adaptations in instructional practice and professional development does technology offer and require?
Artists in all disciplines push the boundaries of traditional forms of art making. What does it mean to be an artist today? How should arts education and professional development adapt to changing artistic practice?.
Evolving technology offers us ways to communicate and collaborate across time and space that impact how we structure our work. How should we respond to these new opportunities and challenges?
