Peer Mentors
Student Success Programs offers this opportunity for current UTC students to become employed as SSP Peer Mentors. We use Peer Mentors to help staff First Gen Mocs programming like First Gen Summit. These are paid positions with opportunities to earn paid hours throughout the year through various events and programs.
- First Gen Mocs Mentor
The FG Mentor plays a crucial role in supporting the transition and success of the incoming first-generation freshmen at UTC. Mentors will help lead First Gen Summit which takes place the days leading up to Move-In Day, and provide ongoing support to a cohort of mentees throughout the first academic year. This is a paid position which offers an exciting opportunity to build community, share experiences, connect Mocs with valuable resources, and foster a sense of belonging on campus.
Requirements
- Training will take place online over the summer and before the First Gen Summit begins and is required.
- First Gen Summit Early move in; Actively lead, facilitate, and participate in all Summit activities from Monday through Wednesday evening.
- Mentoring through the Fall semester, with options to continue through the Spring semester.
- Additional opportunities to earn paid hours will be available through SSP.
