Moc LEAD
Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to apply to this unique opportunity.
Moc LEAD (Leaders Encouraging a Difference) launched during the 2017-2018 academic year. It is currently designated as a Connections Cohort opportunity. This experience is open to any undergraduate or graduate student in good standing with the institution.
Faculty, staff, and community leaders facilitate workshops to help prepare participants for their next steps as leaders in their communities, organizations, and future careers!
Workshops focus on:
- Defining personal leadership principles
- Setting S.M.A.R.T. Goals and identifying personal motivators to help achieve them
- Identifying leadership and communication preferences
- Navigating group dynamics and organizational processes
- Learning management and prioritization strategies
- Utilizing conflict resolution tactics
- Practicing public speaking skills
- Applying leadership to your cover letter and resume
As a 10 week cohort-based experience, the Moc LEAD Self-Awareness Experience is designed to help students develop their individual leadership skills while the Organizational Leadership Experience helps students address critical membership areas that are vital to success. The Self-Awareness Experience is perfect for anyone "new" to leadership. The Organizational Leadership Experience would be great for anyone thinking about taking on new responsibilities or for someone who just began a positional role. Learn more below!

Testimonials
As a result of participating in the Moc LEAD Organizational Leadership Experience, I will be more active in the organizations that I am a part of. I won't be hesitant to encourage change when we get into a state of comfortability."-Spring 2023 Organizational Leadership Graduate
"This program has helped me become a more confident individual. My only regret is not discovering this program earlier. "-Fall 2021 Self-Awareness Graduate
"As an individual with ideas of what leadership is and what it can be, it has been hard to express my ideas without my social anxiety invading my thoughts. However, during Moc LEAD I was able to surround myself with like-minded people. Even when I wasn't able to put my thoughts into words, my peers were. This was so helpful to me. It is sometimes tough being in situations where there are many different personalities, but Moc LEAD really made it more open and inviting to share ideas."-Fall 2021 Self-Awareness Graduate
"As a non-traditional student returning to college after a long break, coming to each session helped me feel like I had a place to belong and helped familiarize me with the campus and what UTC has to offer students. Having been a part of the post collegiate, working world for several years I know that opportunities to regular invest in oneself and development professional skills are hard to come by (especially for free!). Being able to access this experience is really valuable to me as a person, and taking the time to invest in my own development was very meaningful to me."- Fall 2019 Self-Awareness Graduate
"Every Moc LEAD Session exceeded my expectations. I not only learned various leadership skills, but formed meaningful relationships with peers from different positions on campus. I have acquired knowledge that I can now apply to the different organizations that I am involved in."-Spring 2022 Organizational Leadership Graduate
