Before Your Ombuds Visit
Your initial meeting with the Ombuds Office is set for 30 minutes. During this time, the ombudsperson will give you an overview of their process before you both decide to engage in discussion around your workplace concerns.
Here's what the Ombuds team will do for you:
- Ensure a confidential and welcoming atmosphere where you can freely discuss any workplace issues.
- Gain a clear understanding of your specific concerns.
- Help you consider various solutions and plan potential next steps.
- Provide guidance on questions related to university regulations, policies or procedures.
You're not required to bring any materials to the meeting. However, if you believe that documents like email threads, disciplinary notices or performance reviews could be useful in the discussion, feel free to have them with you. Remember that the ombudsperson maintains an informal approach and does not keep these documents on file.
Before visiting the Ombuds Office, please complete the Conflict Assessment Survey. This will help determine the depth of your workplace conflict and provide a better understanding of your unique workplace conflict.
