AP® Environmental Science

During the 2018 AP® Environmental Science APSI Workshop, participants will:

  • Introduce teachers to the most significant website, videos, and case studies for instruction
  • Introduce teachers to the most used labs and field trips
  • Develop proficiency for writing and grading free response questions, and required math skills
  • Develop syllabi and planning as per requested
  • Visit local sites such as water treatment facilities, power suppliers
  • Exchange ideas meeting in both “home groups and expert groups”

Instructor - Gordon Chenery

Gordon Chenery has taught biology and environmental science for thirty-five years, and has served as a CollegeBoard reader science 2003. He has enjoyed being a table reader for the APES exam the last seven years. Gordon earned both a MAT and MS degree from Vanderbilt University, and was a Woodrow Wilson Scholar at Princeton. He was awarded NABT's Teacher of the Year Award for Tennessee, and has won Apple and Wilson awards. In addition to being a consultant for the CollegeBoard, he makes presentations for the National Math and Science Initiative. He has written questions for both the Educational Testing Service and the ACT, and has co-authored several AP test preparation books. His hobbies include woodworking, birding, fishing/crabbing/shrimping, and spoiling his grandchildren.
