Welcome to the former home page of the UTC Chemistry Club/Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society.
Purpose of the Club:
Serve the university, the department, and the local community to promote chemistry in life.
Exchange information with faculty and colleagues.
Participate in the various UTC and departmental various activities.
Participate in the activities at local schools and the Discovery museum offering hands-on activity every year.
Are well-informed with professional school and graduate school opportunities.
Present a poster at a National and/or Regional American Chemical Society Meeting discussing research activities.

How to become a member
Becoming a member of the Student Affiliates at UTC is extremely easy. All you have to do is attend a meeting and pay local dues. Dues are $5 a semester or, $8 for the entire year.
Membership in the National American Chemical Society is encouraged but not required. The cost of a student member of the National ACS is $23 . Membership in the National ACS allows you to:

Attend National meetings (held in places such as San Francisco and Washington, D.C.)

Use ACS Career Services - information and a job search engine only available to ACS members

Learn about opportunities to help spread chemical awareness in your community

Learn about what Chemists do in the real world

Awards
We are awarded with the American Chemical Society-Community Interaction Grant (ACS-CIG) and UTC is one out of 15 universities which were awarded through out the whole country. Great job Chemistry Club! This grant supports the activities at Brown Academy and the Discovery Museum.
Club-sponsored tutoring information
Chemistry Club tutoring sessions are offered every Fall and Spring semesters.
Group Tutoring: Tentative schedule is from 5:00 to 6:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Grote 324. The cost is $5. If no tutees show up by 5:20 PM, that day session will be cancelled. No appointment is necessary.
Private Chemistry Tutoring: Send an email to [email protected] to request information. The cost varies as $15 - $20 per hour.
