Data Analytics Initiative

According to Gartner in 2010, a projected 250% average growth rate of information management will occur across all industries in the next three years. Demand of IT professionals is projected to increase by 30 percent from 2008 to 2018, faster than the average of all other occupations, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics.

In response to the national and local need for qualified I.T. workforce professionals, the leaders at UTC College of Engineering and Computer Science and College of Business have developed curricula and certificate programs for data analytics. This multi-disciplinary program offers coursework in undergraduate and graduate level studies, based on recognized skill sets in data analytics. Students who earn a computer science or business degree with strong data analytics content will obtain skill sets in the following areas:

• Data integration and integrity
• Database warehousing and management
• Certified information security
• Business intelligence
• Performance management
• Data analytics and reporting
