Please welcome Carrie Smith - Colorguard Instructor!
We are delighted that Carrie Smith has taken on the role of Colorguard Coordinator!
Carrie Smith has been an influential figure in the pageantry arts since 1989, when she first began her performing career in Kentucky. Following high school, she expanded her experience in the activity by performing with some of the most prestigious independent winter guards, including Dimension, The Pride of Cincinnati, and The Company Color Guard. With over three decades of experience, Carrie has established herself as a highly sought-after designer, choreographer, consultant, and technician. She has collaborated with some of the most elite programs in the country, including The Company Color Guard, The Knights Winter Guard, Opus X Winter Guard, Pegasus Winter Guard, The Phantom Regiment, The Madison Scouts, and The Bluecoats. Currently, she is a valued staff member for Carolina Crown, Walton High School, and Paramount Winter Guard, where she continues to shape the future of the activity.
In 2001, Carrie assumed leadership of the color guard program at Seminole High School, where she elevated the team to national prominence. Under her direction, the program became a twelve-time WGI Championships Scholastic Finalist, consistently competing at the highest levels. Seminole's color guard progressed through all WGI competitive classes, ultimately securing a strong reputation as a consistent Scholastic World finalist. Beyond teaching, Carrie is deeply involved in adjudication and program development. She is an active judge for both marching band and winter guard, offering her expertise to a wide range of programs across the country. She is also an engaged Board Member of the Florida Federation of Colorguards Circuit (FFCC) and previously served on the Winter Guard International (WGI) Board of Directors from 2012-2016.
Carrie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Outside of the marching arts, she applies her passion for education and development in her professional career, working in the Learning and Development Department at Unum, where she specializes in corporate training. Currently residing in Chattanooga, TN, Carrie enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, spoiling her dogs, and reading. She continues to leave a lasting impact on the pageantry arts community through her dedication to performance, education, and leadership.
