The WCC is hiring peer writing consultants for Fall 2023!
The WCC helps students, faculty, and staff with all types of writing or communication projects at any stage in the process. Peer Writing Consultants provide one to one writing tutoring to students across a variety of disciplines and backgrounds, including offering on the spot feedback, explaining writing-related concepts, and helping students make revision plans. In addition to providing online writing consultations, our consultants assist at our front desk, teach workshops, give class presentations, develop resources, and participate in ongoing training and professional development.
We are looking for students with strong written and oral communication skills who are interested in learning how to teach and mentor others. Applicants should also have knowledge of the writing process; be friendly, motivated, polite, professional; and have the ability to successfully communicate with students with a variety of learning styles. Successful completion of ENGL 1010 (or equivalent) is required. On-the-job training will be provided, and students from any major who possess these qualifications are encouraged to apply.
Student applicants can submit their application materials (resume, cover letter, and a writing sample) through Handshake.
