The UTC Library supports open publishing on campus. Our services are built on robust publishing platforms that promote open knowledge exchange and wide scholarship discoverability.

• technical support and advice policies and best practices 

UTC Scholar 

UTC Scholar provides open access to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's research, creative works, and publications. We support the publication of scholarly works, including:

• Journals
• Books
• Conference Proceedings
• Theses and Dissertations
• Open Textbooks
• Open Pedagogy Projects 

All proposals for new open access projects must be initiated by a current full-time faculty member. 

UTC Open Publishing with Pressbooks

UTC Open Publishing provides a platform for dynamic, interactive, web-based ebooks. UTC Open Publishing employs Pressbooks, an online content management system based on WordPress, to design to create online books. Pressbooks lets creators quickly publish their content to the web and produce exports in multiple formats, including accessible EPUBs and PDFs specially designed for print-on-demand or digital distribution. 

Books created through UTC Open Publishing Materials are also stored in UTC Scholar and distributed through the Tennessee Open Education Hub. 

All proposals for new open access projects must be initiated by a current full-time faculty member. 

Publishing Support Services

The UTC Library can connect you with professional publication support services including copy-editing, figure design, layout, and rights management. Publishing support services are provided through a third-party, and the charges are the responsibility of the project owner.
