General Collection Gifts and Donations
Thank you for considering a donation to the UTC Library’s general collection!
The UTC Library general collection consists of over 450,000 physical items, over 117,000 online journals, and over 1.1 million e-books available to our current students, faculty and staff. In many cases, offers of books or other library materials may duplicate our holdings. With limited physical space in the Stacks and a renewed focus on growing our online content, the UTC Library must be selective in the materials we choose to add to our collection.
The UTC Library does not accept the following types of items:
- Titles already owned or licensed by the university, including journal runs
- Physical media, such as DVDs, Blu-Rays, VHS tapes, CDs, laserdiscs, and other depreciated A/V materials
- Textbooks
- Widely held research publications
- Popular trade or mass market paperback books
- Magazines and newspapers
If you are interested in donating to the UTC Library’s general collection, please contact us via e-mail at [email protected] with details on the intended donation. We require an inventory or detailed description of the intended donation prior to drop-off to verify that there is no overlap with the current collection.
All donations to the UTC Library’s general collections are in-kind donations. If you are interested in donating to the UTC Library for the purpose of a charitable contribution deduction on your taxes, please contact the UTC Advancement staff at [email protected] or make a gift here and select “Fund for UTC Library” as your area of support.
If an in-kind donation is approved by Acquisitions and Content Management staff, you will be contacted to finalize the gift agreement and schedule a time for drop-off of materials. The UTC Library will not accept walk-in donations or unapproved drop-offs.
