National Association for Music Education (NAfME)
National Association for Music Education (NAfME), among the world’s largest arts education organizations, is the only association that addresses all aspects of music education. NAfME advocates at the local, state, and national levels; provides resources for teachers, parents, and administrators; hosts professional development events; and offers a variety of opportunities for students and teachers. The Association orchestrates success for millions of students nationwide and has supported music educators at all teaching levels for more than a century.

Founded in 2006, The NAMM Foundation represents the generosity and philanthropy of the music products industry. A supporting organization of NAMM, the National Association of Music Merchants, the NAMM Foundation is funded through trade association activities and donations.

Tennessee Arts Commission
The Tennessee Arts Commission was created in 1967 by the Tennessee General Assembly with the special mandate to stimulate and encourage the presentation of the visual, literary, music and performing arts and to encourage public interest in the cultural heritage of Tennessee. The mission of the Tennessee Arts Commission is to cultivate the arts for the benefit of all Tennesseans and their communities.

Established in 1969, ArtsBuild (formerly Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga) is a private, nonprofit united arts fund and arts council. ArtsBuild provides a united voice for all cultural organizations and activities in Hamilton County.

Barking Legs Theatre
Barking Legs Theater is a superb, intimate concert hall and performance venue that has established a reputation as a great place for musicians and listeners alike. We are known throughout the Southeast as a venue with great acoustics and remarkable intimacy. Barking Legs is a listener’s dream, where each note and word rings clearly, promoting the sort of rapt attention impossible in the typical club or barroom setting. Performers love it! Our 80 fixed seats all have great sight lines and we can accommodate overflow crowds up to 175. Our in-house events offer a concession area and you are invited to take your beverages with you into the theater. And if you’re curious about the name, its origin stems from the “bark leggins” that were worn by scouts and woodsmen of the Appalachian region in the last century.

Create, play and print beautiful sheet music all for free. This program doesn’t have as many bells and whistles as Finale, but for a budget it does work.

An excellent and free online source with lesson, exercises, and tools that any music teacher would love., this website offers a wide range of free sources that can be utilized to reinforce the knowledge of music theory from basic beginnings to advance students.

Music Educators Toolbox
This set of free online resources for music teachers includes lesson plans and activities, summative and formative assessments, video examples, and documented best practices. Designed to be effective and adaptable in a wide variety of music classrooms, the resources were developed through Carnegie Hall’s five-year residency in a New York City elementary/middle school.
The Toolbox currently features grade-specific music education resources addressing fundamentals of Rhythm and Meter, Form and Design, Expressive Qualities, Pitch, and Performing.

Music Teachers National Association: Parents and Student Resources
Today's music teachers are faced with new challenges: Students live in a fast-paced "wow-me" world; they are not necessarily motivated by intrinsic values, but rather seek to be entertained by something or someone. Oftentimes, computers fulfill this role, playing a large part in the lives of students. Computers can entertain, can provide a vehicle for learning and are filled with all the bells and whistles technology has to offer. In no way will computers ever replace music teachers, but teachers can supplement lessons to include websites designed to help students gain skills while using the computer and the wonders of technology. It would virtually be impossible to offer a comprehensive list of music websites; however, MTNA offers this overview of selected websites that teachers might find helpful for augmenting lesson materials-particularly to enhance those six practice days between lessons!
