2025 Education Research Opportunity

Partner with UTC’s Arts-Based Collaborative to learn about the benefits of arts integration in early education.
Open to all current UTC students and majors. This opportunity will take place during the Fall 2025 semester.
The Arts-Based Collaborative works to provide arts integration training and curriculum to classrooms in the tri-state area, increasing learning and arts access for all. This year, ABC is working with one of UTC Children’s Centers in a customized program involving several classroom residencies. The second half of the program includes four classroom residencies. We are looking for a UTC student to attend and observe a few residency sessions, present observations and what they learned to a peer group, and complete a write-up for ABC.
For full participation in the below components, a stipend of $500 will be awarded:
- 3 classroom residency observations, to take place October - November 2025.
- Presentation to a peer and/or faculty group (and ABC staff), to take place by end of Fall term. Recipient will collaborate with ABC staff to identify presentation opportunities and select the one that makes the most sense. Presentations might happen in conjunction with coursework, in a class, for a club, as part of a residential community gathering on campus, etc.
- Summary/recap write-up including reflection, images, and caption due by end of term. May be used on ABC social media.
Learn about the benefits of arts integration in early education!
The application is open to all current UTC students and majors, with recommendations toward majors such as education, early childhood education, arts education, art and arts-related, and social work. The program will take place October through December 2025. Participation in the program depends on selection by ABC staff and committee. Awardee will be notified in late October. Please reach out to ABC staff with any questions.
