How to Join

Eligibility Requirements

New students (with no previous college attendance), who are enrolled full-time (12 hours), are eligible to become a new member of a fraternity or sorority if they have a 2.5 overall High School GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Please note that some chapter constitutions or new member policies require a higher minimum standard.

Transfer or returning students, who have a 2.5 overall GPA (on a 4.0 scale), are enrolled in at least 12 hours and are in good standing with the University are eligible to become a new member. Please note that some chapter constitutions or new member policies require a higher minimum standard. 

Full-time students participating in a Consortium Agreement with another school who listed UTC as their primary institution, with proper documentation, are eligible to become a fraternity or sorority new member provided that they are in good standing with the University.

All new members must maintain full-time status (12 hours) during their new member education/intake period. 

Interfraternity Council

Formal recruitment for our Interfraternity Council (IFC) chapters will take place Sunday, September 8 – Saturday, September 14, 2024. To go through the recruitment process, a potential new member (PNM) must sign up, pay the $25 fee and attend mandatory chapter rotations on Sunday, September 8 where the PNM will get a chance to meet each fraternity and learn about the events fraternity’s will be hosting throughout the week.  Throughout the recruitment week, fraternities will offer bids (formal invitations to join a fraternity) to PNM's they feel are the best fit for their respective organization. Although receiving a bid is an honor, PNM's should not feel obligated into accepting the bid or feel pressured to stay with the fraternity that has offered him a bid. PNM's are encouraged to meet with and get to know as many of the organizations as possible, but only one bid can be accepted.

Once the bid is accepted, the PNM then begins the new member process (the transformation process from potential new member to initiated brother). Some fraternities may refer the new member process to a pledging or associate process. Throughout the new member process, the new member will be taught history, values, morals, leadership, and brotherhood represented by their respective fraternity. Panhellenic Council 

Panhellenic Primary Recruitment will take place August 12-17, 2024. Early move-in for registered Potential New Members will be August 12. Recruitment is a great way to get involved on campus and get to know other people before school starts! Once you’ve registered for Recruitment you’ll be assigned a Pi Chi, which is a woman who has joined a sorority already, but is choosing to help women through the recruitment process instead of recruiting for her chapter. Your Pi Chi will serve as your point of contact and your guide.  If you would like to know more about recruitment, such as what to wear or information about the chapters, you can visit the Panhellenic Council’s website!

Recruitment is structured into three rounds that are spread across four days. PNMs will visit all six chapters in round one, at most four chapters in round two, and at most two chapters during round three.
