Do UTC master’s students complete civil engineering internships?
- Completing an internship is not mandatory, however, most students do complete an internship. Many students get their civil engineering internships from local companies and government agencies, such as Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority and TN DOT. Most often, the internships are paid.
What are some popular civil engineering companies UTC graduates work for?
- UTC graduates work for many different companies/organizations. In the past five years, we have three graduates working for TN DOT, two working for Nashville DOT, and four going to graduate schools for their PhD degrees. All our graduates secured their jobs before their graduation.
Is a master’s in civil engineering worth it?
- Compared to undergraduate students, master’s students in civil engineering gain more advanced knowledge in a specific area. They are also trained with advanced computing skills, and they learn how to work on a project independently with minimum help. This provides students with better job opportunities and faster advancement within one’s career.
