About PSPS
The Department of Political Science and Public Service equips people to examine, refine, and promote, through political and voluntary action, their conceptions of a good society. We provide UTC undergraduate and graduate students with high quality instruction in the diverse fields of political science, public administration, and nonprofit management through our bachelor’s, master’s, certificate, and badge programs.

Academic programs
For undergraduate students, we offer Bachelor of Science in Political Science degree with five optional concentrations:
- American politics
- International relations and comparative politics
- Public law
- Public policy
- Public administration and nonprofit management
- ... Or, students may pursue a general political science degree with courses selected from across the PSPS curriculum to align with academic and professional goals.

At the graduate level, the department also offers the Master of Public Administration degree, with three tracks:
- Local government management concentration
- Nonprofit management concentration
- Generalist track (a flexible, “build your own” concentration option)
The department also offers a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management for students who already have a master’s degree in a related field or significant nonprofit management experience.

All students may earn a Badge in Applied Politics to gain skills in the practice of politics, such as campaign management, advocacy, lobbying, and election administration. Learn more about our badge program.

We are located on the 4th floor of the 540 McCallie Building. Take the elevators closest to the west entrance of the building (the side entrance facing Houston Street, not the entrance facing McCallie Avenue). The office suite is immediately outside of the 4th floor elevator lobby.
