Academic Program Accreditation
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. SACSCOC is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states.

Academic Accreditation
Many of UTC's programs have earned accreditation from additional accrediting agencies.
Program Review
Programs that do not have an accrediting body must go through a review process every 5 years. This process is intended to provide programs an assessment of strengths and weaknesses and help identify areas for improvement.

Other Accreditations
UTC Children's Center
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Children's Center is a nationally accredited program with the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). There are several benefits of having an accredited center. The benefit for the children is our main focus for obtaining our accreditation. Several benefits include lower teacher-child ratios, additional required early childhood trainings for staff, better curriculum, staying up to date with what are best practices in early childhood, and so much more. The Children's Center is a lab school for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, as well as for other schools in the area. Being an accredited program is a must since we are training future educators as well as giving our children a solid foundation for future learning.
UTC Police Department
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Police Department has been certified by the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police. Several benefits of attaining accreditation include and are not limited to, the ability to prevent and control crime through more effective and efficient delivery of law enforcement services to the community it serves, gain citizen confidence in the policies and practices of the agency is increased, and be in conjunction with the philosophy of community policing, commits an agency to a broad range of programs (such as crime prevention) that directly benefit the public. UTCPD was awarded State Accreditation through the TACP in July 2019.
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Police Department (UTCPD) is the fourth University Police Department within Tennessee that is solely accredited through the TLEA program. Under the stewardship of the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police, UTCPD joins 55 other state, county, and municipal agencies with TLEA.
