Dr. Christopher Hensley is an Associate Professor in the Criminal Justice Department at UTC. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice/Criminology and Psychology  from East Tennessee State University in 1993, a Master of Science Degree in Sociology from Mississippi State University in 1995, and a Ph.D. in Sociology with a Criminology specialization from Mississippi State University in 1997.  He primarily teaches courses in serial murder, corrections, criminological theory, and social control.

 His research interests include the link between childhood animal cruelty and later violence toward humans, prison sexuality, and attitudes toward criminal justice issues.  He has edited two books, Prison Sex: Practice and Policy and Sexual Deviance: A Reader. He has published over 60 book chapters and articles in several journals including: International Journal of Offender Therapy and Comparative Criminology, The Prison Journal, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Criminal Justice Review, American Journal of Criminal Justice, Journal of Criminal Justice Education, Society & Animals, Criminal Justice Studies, and Women and Criminal Justice. He was the editor of the American Journal of Criminal Justice for two years and currently serves on the editorial board of The Prison Journal and Criminal Justice Studies.
