Leadership and Professional Practice Program Highlights
The multidisciplinary Leadership and Professional Practice Doctoral Program (EdD) is designed to develop reflective practitioners in a variety of organizations/institution and focus on the interwoven nature of leadership, decision-making, and learning; emphasizing the proficiency that individuals will need as they pursue the challenges of ever-changing processes and practices. Participants will demonstrate competency in the following program domains: Learning and Leadership; Professional/Instructional Practice; Measurement and Inquiry; and Communication
Key elements of the Leadership and Professional/Instructional Practice program include:
- Foundational Course – 1 required credit hour during the initial Summer semester via online delivery (both synchronous and asynchronous)
- Cohort Centered - A group of highly qualified participants (maximum of 25 participants per cohort) will complete an initial set of required coursework
- Online Delivery Model – core coursework is delivered asynchronously online (Virtual Classroom), with occasional synchronous meetings with faculty
- Competency Based - Participants must demonstrate competency and synthesize learning across specific program competency domains
- Multi-Disciplinary - Provides an integrated view of learning, leadership, and professional/instructional practice in a variety of organizational settings
- Core Coursework – 24 required core credit hours via online (Virtual Classroom) delivery
- Elective Coursework - 24 credit hours in subject matter related to the participant’s professional practice with pre-approval from the participant's Program Director/Advisor
- Pre-Research Project of Practice- Each participant will enroll in this 5 credit hour course designed to identify a measurement evaluation problem appropriate for the Research Project of Practice
- Research Project of Practice - Each candidate will complete and defend a Research Project of Practice to showcase the ability to identify a current measurable learning program, describe and relate that program to an extant knowledge base, and effectively evaluate the active program within the professional workplace. This project represents the final research project for the degree and includes a formal presentation/defense to a committee (minimum of 12 credit hours required)
- Total Program - The degree program consists of a minimum of 66 credit hours of coursework and research
