UTC and Erlanger Partnership Forges Career Pathway for Pre-health Students
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Pre-Health Students Services, Center for Professional Education, and Erlanger Baroness Hospital Announce Exciting Partnership Program
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) Pre-Health Students Services, the UTC Center for Professional Education, and Erlanger Baroness Hospital are thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership program designed for UTC students aspiring to attend medical school or physician assistant (PA) school. This innovative initiative will fund 10 seats in the Spring 2025 Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) course offered by the UTC Center for Professional Education.
The program aims to provide UTC pre-health students with valuable hands-on experience and professional training in a clinical setting desired by professional schools. Selected participants will have the opportunity to earn their Certified Medical Assistant license and gain unparalleled clinical experience, making them well-prepared for their future careers in healthcare.
Participants agree to work 1,950 within a 2 calendar year period at an Erlanger facility after certification.
In addition to earning their CMA license, students will benefit from unique clinical trainings and mentorship opportunities, enhancing their readiness for medical or PA school applications.
Eligibility requirements include:
- Overall GPA of 3.2 or higher
- Current UTC student or UTC alum
- Interest in pursuing medical school or PA school
- Willingness to adhere to the attendance policy of the Center for Professional Education and the employment requirements of Erlanger Baroness Hospital
Preferred:
- Completed at least 30 credit hours (including transfer, AP, CLEP, or other college credits)
- Overall GPA 3.4 or higher
