Carmen became a part of the Counseling Center team in 2017.  Prior to working at UTC, she worked as a counselor at the University of Mississippi; which is her home state.  In addition to working with college students, she also has extensive experience working with veterans.  Carmen has a passion to provide therapeutic services to survivors of trauma and marginalized populations; specifically, sexual and racial minorities.  She has been trained in a variety of evidenced-based treatments including:  Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Imagery Rehearsal Therapy for Nightmares, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Depression, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia.  In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, watching football, attending carnivals/festivals, and playing the piano/keyboard.
