General Education
Rhetoric and Writing: (6 hours)
Two approved courses in rhetoric and writing
Non-Western Culture: (3 hours)
One approved non-western culture course other than Anthropology
Statistics: (3 hours)
One approved statistics course
- MATH 2100 - Introductory Statistics
- MATH 3100 - Applied Statistics
- DATA 2130 - Statistics in Business
- PSPS 2030 - Introductory Statistics in Psychology
- SOC 2500 - Social Statistics
Mathematics: (3 hours)
One approved mathematics course
Behavioral and Social Sciences: (6 hours)
Two approved behavioral or social science courses in two different disciplines, other than Sociology and Anthropology
Historical Understanding (3 hours)
Literature (3 hours)
Thought, Values and Beliefs (3 hours)
Visual and Performing Arts (3 hours)
Natural Sciences: (7-8 hours)
Two approved natural science courses, at least one including a laboratory component
Fine Arts and Humanities: (12 hours)
Complete one course in each subcategory

33 hours including:

- SOC 2400 - Professionalism in Sociology
- SOC 3130 - Social Theory
- SOC 3140 - Research Methods
Students choose 3 courses from the 4 below
- SOC 2190 Deviance and Conformity
- SOC 3450 Social Inequality
- SOC 3050 Race and Ethnicity
- SOC 3070 Gender and Society
Plus 15 hours of sociology electives
(At least 12 hours at 3000-4000 level)
Sociology Minor
A student may obtain a minor in sociology by successfully completing the following:
- SOC 1510 - Introduction to Sociology
- 15 additional hours in sociology, at least 9 of which are at the 3000 or 4000 level for a total of 18 hours.
A minimum 2.0 average is required in all courses attempted for the minor.
