EnVaGe Presents: Chamber Variations - November 18
EnVaGe is pleased to announce their performance of Chamber Variations, a chamber music concert featuring works by Franz Schubert, Franz Liszt, and Chattanooga composer Tim Hinck. The concert will take place on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall of the UTC Fine Arts Center. The performance will be preceded by “What’s It All About?”, a pre-concert introductory lecture about the evening’s program, beginning at 7:00 PM, also in the Hayes Hall.
EnVaGe (Ensemble of Variable Geometry) presents a new concert series in partnership with UTC’s Department of Performing Arts. These events offer new and exciting live concerts appealing to diverse audiences of wide-ranging types and levels of musical experience. The ensemble’s repertoire includes solo pieces, chamber music and transcriptions of orchestral masterworks, embracing traditional concert genres alongside popular and folk idioms. EnVaGe uses amplification and other technology in combination with ensemble modification and eclectic programming to mimic today’s listening practices and enhance the audience’s aesthetic experience.
For the November 18 program, EnVaGe will perform a program inspired by Christian Schubert’s poem Die Forelle (The Trout). The program includes Schubert’s lied Die Forelle for soprano and piano as well as his well-known Quintet in A Major, D. 667 and Liszt’s transcription for solo piano of Schubert’s Quintet in A Major. Additionally, EnVaGe will perform the world premiere of Tim Hinck’s Terraform: “Brook”, a work commissioned for this concert.
