The UTC Department of Performing Arts - Music Division is pleased to present EnVaGe February 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Roland Hayes Concert Hall. Celebrate Diversity Through Music and Poetry is a chamber music program including works by Mario Abril, Eric Whitacre, Valerie Coleman, and David Lang. The concert experience will feature African American author Earl Braggs reading his own work.
EnVaGe (Ensemble of Variable Geometry) presents a new concert series in partnership with UTC’s Department of Performing Arts. These events offer new and exciting live concerts appealing to diverse audiences of wide-ranging types and levels of musical experience. The ensemble’s repertoire includes solo pieces, chamber music and transcriptions of orchestral masterworks, embracing traditional concert genres alongside popular and folk idioms. EnVaGe uses amplification and other technology in combination with ensemble modification and eclectic programming to mimic today’s listening practices and enhance the audience’s aesthetic experience.

For the February 10 program, EnVaGe will combine poetry with an eclectic array of chamber music works to create a narrative that celebrates and underlines the significance of diversity in our culture. In addition to Earl Braggs’ works, the program will include Five Hebrew Love Songs by Eric Whitacre, Fantasia by Mario Abril, Sweet Air by David Lang, Portraits of Langston by Valerie Coleman, Song of the Seasons by Valerie Capers, and O King by Luciano Berio.
