UTC’s Data Analytics With Alteryx online course, offered by UTC Engineering in partnership with UTC Center for Professional Education, is designed to help local professionals in a variety of industries upskill by learning how to prepare, blend and analyze data without requiring extensive coding. While Excel provides basic data tools, Alteryx takes professionals to the next level in data analysis by enabling users to create automations and repeatable workflows with large scalability. The sky is the limit with Alteryx!

Upon completion of the course, students receive a certificate of attendance and are prepared to take the official Alteryx Data Core Designer certification test. The test is free of charge and provided by Alteryx; however, pursuing the certification is optional. Students do not have to attend UTC nor pursue the course for credit. Many professionals take the course as a professional development opportunity!

Meet the Instructor

Dr. Serkan Varol

Dr. Varol is an Assistant Professor of Engineering Management and Technology at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He teaches Data Analytics, Quality Management, Engineering Economy, Innovation and Leadership courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. His research interests include Data Mining, Business Analytics, Statistical Decision Making, Health Informatics and Quality Management systems. Prior to his role at UTC, he worked as a business analyst at Ford Motor Company. He was involved in building a “in house made“ Spark-based Data Profiling tool that identifies the concepts (including PII concepts), scans the landed data in Hadoop environment and provide columnar analysis to assess the quality of information. This teamwork was nominated by Chief Data and Analytics Offices for the “Henry Ford Technical Award” which was presented at the annual Henry Ford Award Conference in 2017.
