Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice & Internship Coordinator
Social, Cultural, and Justice Studies
Ph.D., University of Arkansas Little Rock
  Rm. 452, 540 MC

Prior to earning my doctorate, I spent more than 10 years in the field as a police officer and criminal investigator. My research has focused on the intersection of community structure, culture, race, gender, and crime—a broad umbrella that has allowed me to examine topics ranging from gun violence and drug crime to sexual victimization and crime reporting. I am also a strong advocate of student-faculty research collaboration, applied criminology, and community-based service learning projects that build networks of support and trust between marginalized populations, service agencies, and the university. If you have an interest in any of these endeavors, I hope that you will drop by my office or stop me on campus and visit!
